Venue
The workshop will be held at the Kavli Institutde for Astronomy and Astrophysics (KIAA), on the picturesque campus of Peking University (PKU) in Beijing. The conference is being supported by funds from the National Astronomical Observatory of China (NAOC/CAS) and the National Science Foundation of China (NSFC). There is no registration fee. The KIAA is on the northern part of the PKU campus in the Langrun Garden. The following map shows the PKU campus with the KIAA, hotels, and other points of interest labeled. PDF version of PKU campus map (880kB) Travel and Accommodation Please consult the KIAA visitor information page for other information about visiting the Institute. Most out-of-town participants will be staying at the PKU Global Village (中关新园) or the Lakeview Hotel. Both are outside the East Gate of campus. If you have requested for us to reserve accommodation for you, you should have received an email confirmation. The most convenient way to arrive at the PKU campus from the airport is by taxi, and the following are taxi card you can print out to show a taxi driver: Taxi card for PKU Global Village Taxi card for Lakeview Hotel The East Gate of PKU is a subway stop on the Line 4 Metro. This is the most convenient way to arrive from other parts of the city, e.g., the train station, or to go to the city center. It is possible to take the subway to the airport (to avoid traffic). From the Line 4 station outside the East Gate, the trip requires two well-signed transfers. Travel time is approximately 1 hr to Terminal 3, and 1hr20min to Terminals 1 or 2. Driving to PKU. If you plan to drive to PKU, you will need to email us your license plate number, the gate you will enter, and the approximate time you will come so we can notify security. It is probably best to enter through the Northeast Gate on the map above (东侧门). The workshop will be held 16-17 Feb 2011, which are the last two days of Spring Festival, the last day being Lantern Festival. The evenings should be punctuated with fireworks. |
