A bus will be arranged for transport to the restaurant. But you will have to sign up and pay for it during registration. Tour: A half day tour to the BaDaLing section of the Great Wall, nearby Beijing, will be arranged after the workshop, April 15 morning. You also have to sign up during registration. The cost depends on the size of the group. It is likely that the organizers cover the tour fee if not a big size. The Forbidden City is downtown, easily reached by subway (map) to the Tian’ammen East station. Indeed, most scenic spots can be easily reached by subway, as well as the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube. The info for tours to some spots can be found here. Entertainment: In the greater Beijng area, the great metropolis Beijing has something on every day. Of particular interest may be the newly-built spectacular National Center for the Performing Arts. Downtown is ~30 minutes by subway.
